Russia is carrying out a large-scale rearmament program, announced in 2010, which is set to achieve a 70-percent modernization of its military hardware by 2020. The total cost of the modernization is estimated at about 20 trillion rubles ($337 billion).

So far, the modernization program has proved its efficiency.

As Sputnik reported Monday,
“As part of rearmament within the period between 2012 and 2017 the army received over 3,700 units of modern missile and artillery equipment, which allowed it to upgrade over 50 military formations,”
Lt. Gen. Nikolai Parshin, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry’s Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.

According to Sputnik, the military official added that research and development institutions as well as industrial factories were doing their best to provide the Russian Armed Forces with modern equipment as soon as possible.
