MOSCOW (Sputnik) – No surprises in the energy sector will catch Russia off balance as the country is getting ready to work with renewable energy sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday.
“We seek to ensure that the gas market is global. We are preparing for this. And we are also preparing to work with renewable energy sources,”
Putin said, speaking at the Russian Energy Week forum’s plenary session.
According to Putin, Russia has competence in the manufacture of solar panels, is also constructing the world’s only nuclear icebreaker fleet and is planning the production of hydrogen energy.
“We are getting ready for this, not only like Saudi Arabia but also like many other countries. Therefore, I am sure that no surprises will catch our country, Russia, off guard,”
the Russian president pointed out.
The Russian Energy Week (REW) 2017 international forum is held in Moscow between Tuesday and Saturday.
