MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian side in the Russian-Turkish commission on the Syrian reconciliation has recorded five violations of the ceasefire regime over past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has informed about seven truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

“Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered five cases of firing in the provinces of Damascus (4) and Daraa (1). The Turkish party has registered seven cases of firing in five provinces of Aleppo (2), Idlib (1), Homs (1), and Damascus (3),”

the ministry said in a daily bulletin.

According to the ministry, sporadic fire incidents were mostly registered in the areas controlled by Jabhat Fatah al Sham (formerly known as Nusra Front) and the Islamic State (IS) terrorist groups, both outlawed in Russia.

Over the day, the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria has carried out two humanitarian operations:

“Over the last 24 hours, two humanitarian actions have been held by the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria. Citizens of Heisa, Homs province, have received two tons of food supplies. Citizens of Hmayma Kabira, Aleppo province, received 2.9 tons of food supplies.”

In addition, medical assistance has been provided to 246 local civilians, the ministry added. Thus, the total number of humanitarian operations of Russia’s reconciliation center in the war-affected country hit 1,635, while 58,358 people were able to receive aid from the center’s doctors.

Within the truce enforcement effort, the reconciliation center officers continue negotiations on joining the ceasefire with field commanders in numerous provinces across Syria, namely Aleppo, Damascus, Homs, Hama, and al-Quneitra.

To date, the number of armed groups, which have vowed to conform to the ceasefire, is standing at 234, while 2,241 cities, towns and villages across Syria have signed the reconciliation agreement, the ministry said.

Russia, alongside Iran and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. The truce, subsequently upheld by the United Nations, was effectuated in December 2016.
