MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia’s Kaspersky Lab said Thursday it had signed an agreement with INTERPOL on sharing cyberthreat intelligence data.
“Kaspersky Lab has reiterated its commitment to global collaboration in the fight against cybercrime by signing a threat intelligence sharing agreement with INTERPOL. The legal framework is designed to facilitate and develop cooperation between Kaspersky Lab and INTERPOL by sharing threat intelligence data on the latest cybercriminal activities, wherever they appear,”
the statement read.
According to the statement, the new agreement would formalize the data exchange procedure between the two organizations:
“Strengthening the existing relationship between the two organizations, the new agreement formalizes the exchange of data that can support INTERPOL in these types of investigations. The aim is for Kaspersky Lab to share information about its cyberthreat research that can help with full digital forensics to stop cybercriminals in their tracks.”
The statement added that the executive director of the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation said that the new agreement between the Russian company and INTERPOL was an additional step forward in the efforts aimed at ensuring law enforcement in the cybersphere.
This is not the first example of cooperation between Kaspersky Lab and INTERPOL. In spring, the Russian company participated in the INTERPOL-led operation that identified some 9,000 botnet command and control servers in Southeast Asia.
